I haven't seen all of it yet, since I'm on digest. I'll check it out but
it appears to be for adding lip synch post production on machinima which
wouldn't be much use for conversing with the bots.

Gavin,
Yes. I am familiar with Crazy Talk. I've used the free demo a few years
back to kick start some ppt presentations. Really nifty tool. I"ve got
to try it again, with my avatar this time. I am also aware of the DA
Group, but I don't know how much they charged for their lip syn program
and I did not see any free demo from them
(http://dagroupplc.com/swf/vms/vms.swf).
I looked at the MotorMouth blip.tv demo after Steve mentioned it, and
although it seems to lip sync in synchronous conversation, I agree with
both of you, the results are a little too "choppy."
Anyone knows which application Silver& Goldie used for Rosedale's avatar
in the Congress machinima (
<http://www.silverandgoldie.com/linden_congress.htm> http://www.silverandgoldie.com/linden_congress.htm)? What about in BeBopVox's Noob Be Gone Series
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LMcryDCIYk <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LMcryDCIYk&feature=related> &feature=related)?
Thanks,
S.

Sabine,
I've seen people use Crazy Talk post-production for close-ups on avatars
and faces - lip synching like that works a treat. Motor Mouth I've found
to be less than satisfactory.

Is the lip-synch I've seen in several SL Machinima an animation possible
only post-production or is there an AO or other script in SL allowing
for lip synch during synchronous conversations in-world?
